Do you need a letter of recommendation from me?
I am always more than willing to write letters of recommendation for former and current students as they spread their wings to venture out of the Spalding High nest. I will also write letters of recommendation for the Young Scholars Program, GHP, NHS, and scholarships. In order for me to write the most effective letter I can, I need your help.
Please download the attached word document and fill in information about yourself on the attached form. You can do so electronically or by hand. Be honest and don’t be too hard on yourself. This is your chance to shine. Brag about yourself, but remember to be truthful.
I will do my best to be specific when referencing your knowledge, performance, potential, and intellectual ability. Any comments I make about your strengths and weaknesses will include examples from our experiences together. I will be specific in linking your talents to the college, university, or scholarship you are applying for. Don’t shy away from describing your weaknesses. Colleges, universities and scholarship committees are looking for real people, not “perfect” people.
A letter of recommendation is very personal. Unless I have first-hand knowledge of an extracurricular activity or sport you are involved in, I’m not likely to include that information in the letter I write; have your club sponsor/coach handle those areas of your Spalding High experience.
I do require at least two weeks notice when asked to write a letter of recommendation.
Good luck in your endeavors!
